Over the last five years I have worked as a live-in-carer. I have been with my current client for two and a half years. However, as a new grandparent I would like to have more flexibility with hours that I work in order to help with childcare. Prior to live in care, I have worked in various care roles since qualifying for my HND in adult nursing back in 2011. My first live-in care was for a couple that had not previously had a live-in carer, both were initially very against the idea, not understanding why suddenly they needed to have a stranger living in their home. Although initially a challenge, I managed to quickly put them at ease by reassuring them that I was there to keep them safe and secure in their own home and assist and enable them to maintain their normal routine and lifestyle as much as possible, to be a companion, but also to help them remain independent in their own home and cherish all the memories they’ve made there. I built up a great relationship with both them and their family andI cared for them for a year. Skills and Experience • Empathy, patience and compassion towards others • Personal care, assisting with shower, drying, dressing, shaving etc whilst also respecting their dignity and maintaining their independence where possible. • Monitoring pressure points and pressure care • Helping with mobility, prompting using walking aids where necessary or using hoists • Overseeing medication according to the care plan • Household chores helping around the home, such as vacuuming, cleaning and laundry • Preparing and cooking meals of client’s choice • Running errands and assisting with tasks such as shopping • Updating care plans, reviewing and record keeping • Reporting important details to colleagues to ensure a safe and up to date care for client • Preparing for social outings • Liaising with family, district nurses, Drs and other healthcare professionals • Keeping the home environment safe and secure • Keeping up to date with the Care Certificate modules which cover 15 modules including Basic Life Skills, Moving and Handling and Medication About Me I enjoy driving up to the Lakes and taking the dog for long walks up in the Hills and recently started to do some of the Wainright walks. I absolutely adore all creatures great and small. Although have had cats most of my life I now have a black miniature cockapoo, 15 months old called Kip. He stays with my parents when I am working although I have taken him to work with one of my clients as he loves dogs and requested I bring him along too. I found it actually helped uplift his spirits so it worked well. I also love cooking and experimenting with new healthy ideas and recipes and I can loose myself in painting seascapes, animals, portraits and abstract when I have some spare time.
Hi my name is Tracy. I have 30 years experience working in health and social care. I am passionate about working with others and I work to the very best of my ability. I work in a person centred manner, assisting to meet your needs and wishes. I’m friendly and caring. I have various qualifications including mental health and counselling. I have a degree in health and social care. I’m good at listening and communicating. I can adapt to most situations and I am calm and patient. I am reliable and organised, completing everything to a high standard. I am conscientious (according to a current client of mine) and I am trustworthy. I have built a good, trusting rapport with the clients I currently work for and I am grateful that they allowed me to help care for them. I treat everyone with the upmost dignity and respect.
I describe myself as a calm, kind and conscientious carer with 25 years varied healthcare experience. I'm an Ex Registered Mental Health Nurse and have also worked across different specialisms-Rehabilitation, Homecare, Residential Care, Mental Health Units and Day care, Private and NHS Hospital job roles including Pre-assessment and Outpatient Healthcare Assistant and Medical Records Clerk. Within the community I have worked with individuals affected by complex and chronic health conditions and more recently End of Life Care support. In my work I endeavour to approach situations in a respectful and positive way and help empower others to maintain their own independence as much as able. I have a "can do" attitude and will constructively work with you whilst respecting your choices and wishes. Apart from plenty of job satisfaction gained from my work I enjoy nature, animals, gardening, visiting places of archaeological and historical interest, current affairs and watching a good film or documentary. I'm very open minded though and find it interesting learning about what other people enjoy and being open to new insights and experiences! I'm looking forward to working collaboratively with future clients and I'll be happy to answer any questions prior to working with you. Thank you for reading my profile.
For the past two years, I have had the privilege of working as a professional carer. My journey began in a NHS Hospital , where I built a strong foundation in supporting elderly and very sick patients. I then have specialised in agency care working at nursing and care homes and supported living, which I find incredibly rewarding. My experience is broad, covering all aspects of personal care, medication management, companionship, and specialist support for clients with dementia and Parkinson's. I am genuinely passionate about this work because I believe everyone has the right to live with dignity and independence in their own home for as long as possible. It is a true privilege to be trusted by a client and their family, and I value the relationships I build, hearing their stories and providing not just physical support but emotional reassurance as well. Friends and colleagues would describe me as patient, empathetic, and extremely reliable. I pride myself on being highly observant—noticing small changes in a client's health or mood—and communicating clearly with both the client and the wider care team. I hold advanced certifications in Dementia Care and Palliative/End-of-Life Support, and I am highly proficient in using all standard moving and handling equipment, such as hoists and stand-aids. When I'm not working, I love spending time in my kitchen. I find cooking very relaxing and particularly enjoy making classic, comforting dishes like a Sunday roast or a rich beef stew. I find this nurturing side of my personality is a perfect match for a career in care.
