I have many years experience caring for the elderly which started within my own family unit, and has extended to clients in the UK. My last assignment was giving palliative care to a lady in the late stages of dementia. I also have experience of caring for children and young adults. I am a caring person by nature with good attention to detail and focusing on providing a person-centred approach to caring. I have a full, clean driving licence and access to my own car and prefer to do waking night shifts or live-in. I have been trained in palliative care and end of life care. I can cover care within a radius of 120 miles from Gravesend (DA12).
I am a carer who started working in 2016. Since then, I have worked in hospitals, care homes, and as a live-in carer. I have extensive experience working with people who have various health conditions like Alzheimer's, learning disabilities, Parkinson's disease, physical disabilities, and mental health illnesses such as schizophrenia, depression, mania, bipolar affective disorder, anxiety state, and phobias. I have also worked with people who have physical health problems such as diabetes, arthritis, and visual impairment. Relevant health and social care legislation, policies, and guidelines, such as the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Equality and Diversity Act, Safeguarding Act, and Human Rights Act, have guided my practice and decision-making. This helps me protect service users' rights over the care they receive. I have worked in different care settings, which allowed me to work with patients, families, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and other health-related bodies and organizations, including members of the public/visitors. Working in domiciliary care, care homes, and hospitals has given me practical experience in catheter care, stoma care, blood sugar monitoring, 1:1 observation, and administering prescribed medication. I can look after patients of various ages, genders, and children. I am also experienced in using equipment such as a hoist, slide sheet, Zimmer frame, standing hoist, blood pressure monitoring, and BM monitoring. I keep an adequate work record and report to my line manager. This motivated me to understand better how a carer should be, gain first-hand experience through assisting the patients, and educate myself more on the type of medical assistance they require individually. Working within a multicultural organization has made me more conscious of the impact of cultural diversity on health and social care as a carer. I have acquired lifelong and transferable skills such as listening and treating everybody equally according to their needs. I am committed to the values of equality and diversity guidelines. I take great pride in my work and enjoy caring for elderly people. Hence, I always ensure I spend time with them and make them happy. I attend to their daily activities and empower them to be more independent. All rates are negotiable depending on the service users' condition. Due to allergies, I cannot care for service users who own pets. Lastly, I enjoy cooking, reading, travelling, sewing, spending time with family, exercising, and computing.
I have been in the care sector now for 25 years, I have supported the elderly in residential care homes, and in the community supporting with personal care, medication, all care duties that needed to be done, feeding, toileting, help with dressing, talking to clients and making sure they are ok. I have also supported young adults/children with Autism, learning disabilities in the community, supporting them to be independent, I always give my clients time to communicate and let them feel at ease, and treating them with respect. I have completed on line training with my current employer, Complex care agency, I have NVQ 3 in social care. I am currently employed with an agency supporting young adults with learning disabilities, I have updated all training which is online, e.g moving and handling, first aid. I am looking to work between the hours of 9.30 to 1.30, Mondays, Wednesday's or Fridays, term time only, in September I can work 2 hours from 9.45 til 11.45, Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and friday, as my son will be at preschool then, again term time only. If there are clients that need hoisting I would like to work with another carer or family member to help. I haven't had my covid vaccination, for personal choice, but I can test regular with covid test if needed. I am happy to look after males or females. I will invoice you for any mileage if needed which will be 45p a mile, I'm looking for work around Gravesend, no more then 8 miles away at the moment.
I am a carer who puts all I have into my job. I treat clients the way I would like to be treated, and in doing so makes me feel happy about the job I do. I am a very professional person who is diligent and trustworthy. I have acquired a lot of experience across the care industry over the years and thus makes me a good fit for the position I apply for.
