I am a carer with over 10 years experience. I worked for one family only for over 6 years. I was in charge of a large house and was trusted the management of the household supervising other staff. I was in charge of the care of the father of the owner. He suffered from Alzheimers but remained in family home up to the end of his life. I cared for him, managing his medication, dressing, accompanying him to outings and hospital appointments. I slept in at the house whilst the owners were working abroad. More recently I have been caring for a 100 year old through a private contact sleeping in the house. This job started as a once a week companionship and was gradually increased to ’job share’ with the client’s daughter one week on/one week off sleeping in the house and cooking a hot evening meal. This has enabled the client to remain independent in her own home. The client has now moved to live with the her family. I completed a week’s training course with Nurse+ and consequently worked in my local Community as a carer before my private employment. Recently I have cared for a lady with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. I have completed my Health Education England, skills for care and Skills for health Certificate. I am a multi linguist and foreign languages are my passion. I worked for a diplomatic overseas service. I speak fluent spanish, french and finnish. I have gained a Diploma in french language and In my spare time I attend french speaking gatherings in my local community. I go to local sports centre regularly to work out and I enjoy swimming too. My strength is my vast experience in the care sector. I am patient, cheerful and calm under pressure. I enjoy working with elderly and my own interest in current affairs and knowledge of different countries and cultures has helped in conversations with adults that I have cared for. I am physically able and in excellent health which helps when caring for a vulnerable person.
I am a friendly, empathetic, caring and polite individual with 8 years of support worker experience including 3 years of living in. I enjoy working with people, helping and supporting their needs according to their care plan and like and dislikes while promoting independence. I am experienced in working in various public and private healthcare sectors, including living in, residential, hospital, nursing home and community with different customers, children, youth and elderly. I have always enjoyed my role as a carer. I have worked in different care settings like nursing homes, residential homes, children homes, hospitals, and client's homes as a live-in/out carer. I have great knowledge and experience caring for adults, children and older people, people with a disability or long-term illness or mental health problem and people who need extra help to manage their lives and be independent. I am able to carry out food preparation, personal care, administer medication, housekeeping and provide personal companionship. I enjoy Yoga, walking, gardening, cooking, reading.
I could write a long essay about how great I am, how much I love my job, how much clients like being with me, how great I am to build trust, how person centred care I provide, how hard working I am, how reliable person I am, how funny, smiling and very supportive carer I am.. I guess you can find so many on here So instead of good old cliches let me just quote a lovey lady who I was lucky to support “Never fear, Suzie is here” This sentence became my motto because it says it all Thank you for reading
