In the past I have been a carer for my Mother, Father and Aunty, who have had various debilitating dis-eases of the body. Those roles led me into wanting to become a professional carer. I would consider myself to be a caring friendly individual who is capable of delivering personal centred care to each person I come into contact with. I believe having good communication and listening skill is at the heart of Caring for clients in making their life comfortable for their well-being. I am fully committed to the service users needs and have the courage to speak up and liaise with the families and relevant external health care professionals with regards safeguarding of my clients. I first started care within the community which eventually led onto being a self employed independent carer. I am fully qualified and always looking to do professional self development within my role as a caregiver. I have my own vehicle with a business license fully MOT and a up to date enhanced CRB.
I have 2 years working in care and I'm very compassionate. I take time to get to know clients so that it's easier to help them live their best life possible. I have worked with people with dementia, stroke and have provided end of life care. I'm experienced in personal grooming and try my best to make clients look their best always. I am able to support with hygiene, toileting, meal preparation and eating. I have a clean drivers licence. I became a carer while I was teaching, looking after my dad and decided to carry on. That was for me the best time I had ever had with my dad and got to know him more as we spent a lot of time together. I realised I have always looked after people as teaching not only requires you to impart knowledge but to build relationships with the students you are working with and most importantly build and protect their mental health. I love reading romance novels and I try to bake sometimes. Very interested in cricket and soccer. Would love to hear from anyone that feels I could help them.
I am a deputy manager who is currently studying NVQ Level 5( Leader in Adult Care). I am responsible for delegating tasks to other care assistants, especially encouraging junior carers to respect not only the healthcare needs of the residents but also their dignity. This has greatly benefited not only my interpersonal awareness - I am now better able to take the time to listen to others - but also my management of time; a quality I believe is essential in providing care as most meals plans, medication and personal care sessions are timetabled. Working in such a person centred environment has been incredibly eye-opening. I have learnt a great deal about how to support patients, make informed decisions as well as realised the importance of building relationships with patients. Once relationships built on respect and transparency are in place I have not glonly been better able to assist patients but also found myself in a better position to help them gain knowledge on how to get well and care for themselves again; often working together to make decisions and realise goals. As a deputy manager, I am a key worker for a number of residents, I am responsible for monitoring changes in well-being and ensuring updated healthcare plans are kept. I sit in with Nurses and Healthcare Professionals, provide my assessment of the residents, and am responsible for relaying the Professional’s advice to other members of the care team. One of the major lessons personal care has taught me, along with the need for precise and coherent note-taking, is a respect of the levels of confidentiality needed when transferring privileged patient information.
I am a dedicated health care and education professional with extensive experience as a healthcare worker , as a registered mental health nurse and educator. I have a strong track record of supporting children , young people and adults with physical health needs , mental health and learning disabilities in both healthcare and educational settings. My diverse career includes delivering personalised care and education, safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, and providing emotional and academic support to ensure continuity in holistic care for those in challenging health circumstances. My unique blend of nursing and teaching expertise enables me to foster inclusive environments that cater to the health, wellbeing and development of children , young adults and older adults with additional needs.
