I’ve been working as a HCA since 2016. I hold my Diploma NVQ2 in Social Care. In addition, the training I require for the job is up to date due to receiving it frequently. I have much experience in providing personal care for elderly people with dementia and physical disabilities. Furthermore, I am more than capable in providing safe levels of care. I am confident and knowledgeable when it comes to operating all of the lifting equipment e.g. Full body hoist, Standing hoist, Ceiling Hoist, frame, wheelchair, and many others. I consider myself as a person who is consistently courteous. Every day without failure, I give to my clients the opportunity to choose what it is that they would like to do, so that I know they will be satisfied, and because it is the equitable thing to do. Respect, approbation, dignity, promote independence. That is my perspective of my work with them, always respecting their wishes, because the most important thing is to make an efficacious impact in their daily lives. I also have experience in fluid and nutrition, basic life support, catheter care, challenging behaviour, patience with diabetes, dementia, food hygiene and safety catering, COSHH. Additionally, I have had personal experience for 21 years because of my disabled twin sons. One has a physical disability that requires the use of a wheelchair due to his quadriplegia, and the other has autism and a behavioural disorder. They are the reason I love this job, because they have impacted my life in a way that has given me the yearning to help others that cannot help themselves. I have extensive experience working with early and late stages dementia, Alzheimer’s, Stroke, Parkinsons disease which includes importance to timely medication administration, Palliative care, Companionship, worked also with clients with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental impairment. I believe I make me the right fit for this role. I have spent the past 17 years working in care homes for elderly residents, and I have built up a solid bank of skills which I believe would allow me to make a significant contribution to any clientele group that I'm privileged to work for. My interest in working with dementia, Alzheimer’s and elderly patients has evolved through previous roles in both a home setting and in a care home environment. To further enhance my knowledge of any illness, I also completed a degree in healthcare management at Arden University, London. I believe through well-structured care, service users can lead a dignified and fulfilling life. I am very keen to continue working in any challenging role and believe working with different clients would give me the exposure and experience to really help future service users.
