I have been caring for others in a variety of settings, of all ages and from across the entire social spectrum for over 20 years. I hold a Joint Hons degree in Economic & Social Policy/Religious Studies and I also completed a 2 yr Business Studies Course. I worked for East Sussex Social Services in Child Protection having previously worked with adults with learning difficulties and other disabilities. In later years I worked as a Community Carer and for the past three years I am self employed and the majority of my work is Live In Care. I am passionate about providing a high standard of Care to my clients and assisting them to lead as full and enjoyable lives as possible. I am a good listener and am genuinely interested in other peoples experiences in life. I am highly organised but at the same time respect that different clients have their own way of doing things. I am fully qualified and hold a current Enhanced DBS held on the National Data Base. I love all animals and have wide experience in caring for a variety! I am also a qualified Swedish Massage Holistic Therapist and I have also trained in Reflexology. I love nature and the out doors, travel, music, theatre and photography.
I am applying for this position because I have experience that I have gained over time. I have always known that I like to help people so this role comes naturally to me. I am a result oriented individual who works well within a team. I am reliable and efficient with the capacity to multi task. I believe I have a strong work ethic combined with the skills I have that make me carry out my work efficiently. I always understand the responsibility that comes with my role. This is making sure I always support my residents or patients in the best way I can by assisting them in different ways. These can be through their day to day needs like; communicating, eating and drinking, mobility, assisting them with personal care, shopping and going out for day to day activities etc. Some of the skills that make me the right candidate for the job include: good time management, organised, good communication, ability to provide personal care, very helpful, enthusiastic, promoting independence for my service users, patients or clients, supportive and trustworthy. While working I believe that support and encouragement is a number one priority when dealing with clients or patients with a vast range of needs.
I am a kind, caring, and quietly patient carer. In South Africa and before becoming a Carer, I qualified as a financial planner. However, I decided to start caring as I have a passion for assisting the vulnerable and adding dignity to those who are less able to care for themselves. I cared for my father before he died from cancer at the young age of 62 years. I then also cared for my mother when she had a heart attack at age 90 years and died a few weeks later. While caring for them, I realized the depth of compassion I feel for those who need care and quiet patience when they are older and/or vulnerable. I permanently left South Africa at the end of 2020 to dedicate myself to working as a Carer. My passion is to give genuine compassionate care and dignity to those who battle to care for themselves. I can assist you with your personal care, toileting, grooming, household tasks, eating, and cooking as well as any administrative tasks. I can also assist with wound care. I have personally had a stoma a few years ago and can there assist with stoma care. I have assisted an elderly client with end-of-life care. I also love pets and have worked for clients who have dogs and I took them for their walks every day. I completed a BTec Level 2 certificate in Dementia Care in 2022. I have a clean driving license and my own vehicle and can therefore work in rural areas and, when necessary, do any errands my client may need. I enjoy reading and studying and therefore often do courses to up-skill myself in this care industry. I also enjoy watching TV and different series at times. I also love watching sport. I like cooking and believe I am a reasonably good cook. I can make you a hearty stew or a roast with roast vegetables - creamy pasta dishes and even simple salmon on toast. I understand keto and can also cook accordingly which is a healthier diet for some and I love trying new recipes. I am willing to learn new skills with new clients and am also happy to fit in with my client's daily routines. I fully understand that I am in your home and will therefore respect your boundaries, routines, and lifestyle. I do regular PCR or lateral flow tests and I am double jabbed for Covid. I have also had one booster. Please get in touch with me if you think that I am able to assist you and add value to your life. Smiles.
I am a kind and empathic carer, attuned to the clients feelings and needs. I can pre empt requests and requirements. I look after my clients with the same level of love and attention as I would a member of my own family. I like to ensure they have a great quality of life and an enjoyable experience with me. I can help with a huge variety of tasks from admin to personal care. My main hobbies are in the areas of personal well being, health and healing as well as fine art, comedy and writing. I am a novice gardener. I have been a carer for a good few years and find it a very fulfilling and rewarding experience. I really enjoy meeting new clients and helping them. I can liase with other medical professionals such as DNs and GPs. I’m familiar with medications and providing personal care. I do ask for a contribution to fuel and travel time as I serve mostly rural areas and there is inevitably car travel involved.
