If I was going to trust a stranger with my Dad I would want full checked background, so my detailed CV is designed to do this, in addition to all the checks carried out by Curam care, together with the numerous other care agencies I’m registered with. Ref 1. An agency ...proved himself to be extremely responsible and reliable and has taken great care of his clients and their homes. He always goes the extra mile and makes sure he keeps abreast of training and research in order to best support his clients. Charles’ military background is evident in his attention to detail and excellent standard of housekeeping. From the outset, Charles has been an exemplary employee and deservedly has won ‘employee of the month and year’ on a couple of occasions. I have no hesitation in recommending Charles for any care opportunities that require a reliable, trustworthy, safe pair of hands. Ref 2. Family... a registered nursing sister Charles has been the live in PA, house manager, carer & chauffeur for my Father for 5 years until Dad's recent death. He has been utterly brilliant, caring for Dad with the utmost of sensitivity and careful handling as the Parkinson's disease and dementia took hold. Significant reductions in costs, staff longevity and a noticeable improvement in Dad’s diet, mobility, health and state-of-mind resulted from Charles’ friendly yet professional dedication & attention to detail. He was totally reliable and utterly trustworthy at all times, taking over vehicle procurement & maintenance, managing the home, staff, gardeners, contractors & generally keeping Dad happy & safe in every possible respect. He was enthusiastic and motivational for Dad, as was appropriate as understands & fits into high net worth refined homes. Dad always looked so well cared for and smart and dignified, all Charles' doing. As from the same background Charles became part of the family. He never once let us down during the entire time he was with Dad, and there were many very difficult times as the Dementia advanced. Due to his extensive corporate experience he is always keen to liaise and communicate with the team and the family, at all times putting the client's best health and financial interests first. Ref 3. Business... …having worked as Training Manager of our parent company in the UK for over 10 years. He was promoted to Sales Manager after 4 months. This was then effectively branch manager. Charles took over my position in Cape Town as ... made me the Sales Director in Johannesburg head office. I therefore had integral knowledge of the Cape Town operation and was confident Charles would make a smooth transition as on my many visits to the UK we worked together, sharing his considerable technical knowledge "Leading from the front". I got to know him & his lovely wife Jilly well over the years, suggested & motivated his return home so I could take up my promotion to head office. My confidence was well rewarded. Charles during his time with ... always conducted himself in the most professional manner. After settling in, he regularly exceeded the branch sales/profitability targets & was well liked by his peers & clients, substantially growing our business presence. His sense of humour mixed with his drive and not always gentle when required, yet always effective staff management skills, great persistence, business ethics & knowledge base, blended with energy & integrity were badly missed. Charles left us to start his own business in another field. On behalf of all the good friends he & Jilly made during his time with us, past & present, we wish him the very best in his future endeavours. Ref 4. Holiday fill in carer. Wife of client ... He became an integral part of the family coming to stay and help for three weeks at a time and later returning, while other carers took his place. This continued from about 2009 over two years. It was a good solution for the continuing care of my husband. Charles was an easy person to have in the house, and provided a lot of light hearted fun in what might have been a grim time for us, and he was always ready to go the extra mile ~ for example with his help we managed to give my husband several lovely swims in our pool which would not have been possible with other carers. It was particularly good for my husband to have another male around from the same background who understood the required etiquette in the management of our home. Charles is a compassionate man and totally honest. He could be left alone as he could manage a variety of excellent basic meals. He could turn his hand to almost anything else required including any odd jobs, DIY & projects etc. He managed my husband’s personal care with great dignity and exceptional care in very trying times.
ALL ABOUT ME: Hello and a warm welcome to my profile! I’m Claire, a 44 year old single woman who was born and raised in Hertfordshire, England. My professional background includes more than 20 years’ experience of caring for children, teenagers and adults in various roles and settings. I have previously worked as a Nursery Nurse, Teacher, Boarding School Houseparent, and more recently, live-in carer for adults. Of course, these roles had many differences between them, but they also offered many shared experiences that are still very useful today in my work as a carer. For example, I have a lot of experience with: Creating action plans on how best to meet an individual’s needs Learning to recognise a person’s ‘normal’ behaviour patterns, in order to recognise when something is amiss and needs looking into Planning fun, creative activities to stimulate fun and wellbeing Working closely with an individual’s family, to ensure we can do what is best to meet their needs Consulting other professionals (medical, safeguarding) so that vital information is shared and acted on Carrying out risk assessments as necessary, and other Health and Safety paperwork, to ensure the individual’s safety at all times Reporting on matters of Safeguarding to the relevant external bodies Managing, administering and recording the individual’s medications First Aid training And many more besides! My care experience has included working as a Live-in Carer for two different positions, as well as an Overnight Carer position. I'm fairly flexible about my next role. WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR: My ideal role would be a live-in carer position, on a permanent basis, with approximately 6 weeks off throughout the year. However, I am honestly very flexible with this and would much rather find the right person to care for, than the right hours. I am open to any possible arrangement, whether that is short-term, long-term, nights only etc., and am happy to negotiate that based on your needs. BECOMING YOUR CARER: As a carer, I understand that my main responsibility is to support you, the client. My purpose is to help you to live as independently as possible, with the reassurance that I am there to support you and enable this. Working with you - the client: Firstly, we would work together to create a personalised Care Plan, that explains how I can meet your needs as a carer. From time to time, we will look over this plan again to discuss how things are going and what we might change. On a day-to-day level, I will offer support wherever you might want it, such as: Laundry and Housekeeping Cooking and meal preparation Shopping Personal care including dressing Medication prompts Pet care Companionship when you want it, and time by yourself when preferred Driving you to your appointments and taking you for trips out and about Helping you to maintain family links and friendships. Sharing your hobbies with you. Perhaps we like some of the same things? My own hobbies include reading, visiting the library, watching old Hollywood movies, days out in the countryside, visiting tea rooms, singing, playing board games, watching football matches. From time to time, I will probably need to involve other people in your care; with your permission of course. For example, your family members and friends. I could communicate with your family and friends to let them know how you are. This might be through phone calls, emails, text messages, or in person. I can also liaise with them to set up opportunities for you to meet up and socialise, if you wish. There may also be times where I will need to work alongside medical professionals to make sure you are keeping in good health. I can help you keep on top of appointments, and attend these with you if you like, to communicate key information. Where medical care plans have been issued, I can help you to put them into action and review them afterwards. Please rest assured that these are things we would discuss together and that I would only act with your permission. WHAT’S NEXT? I really hope that you have enjoyed reading my profile and perhaps I might be a good match for what you are looking for in a carer. Please do feel free to get in touch any time to say hello or ask a question. Goodbye for now!
With over ten years of extensive care experience, beginning my journey in 2015 as a live-in carer, I am confident in my ability to provide compassionate and dedicated support to those in need. I am open to any live-in care position with varying rotas, adapting to the unique needs and wishes of each client. In terms of travel costs, I kindly request the client to cover the return train journey. Furthermore, for daily breaks during live-in care placements, I am flexible with what the client can offer. Whether it's daily breaks or consolidated breaks taken when convenient for the client, I am adaptable to ensure a harmonious caregiving experience. I am confident that my skills and dedication align with the values of health & social care of this country, and I am eager to contribute to the well-being of those under my care.
