I have studied Health and Social Care, I also worked in different health care settings such in Care homes, hospitals and supported living. Attending University studying Community Health Care Studies and working in the industry equipped me with the skills and experience of working with different professionals within the multi-disciplinary teams in the care of patients. I have excellent team working skills and I am a calm person and I am able to handle difficult and challenging situations to which l can take appropriate measures. I have good listening skills, caring is my nature and I am non-judgmental. I started working in a care setting from 2010 until now. I have also volunteered in Drug and Alcohol Independence for 3 years whereby I used to facilitate the groups, one-to-one and home visits. I have worked in mental health with different conditions. I am a patient, trustworthy, reliable and honest team member who can challenge issues l believe should be challenged to improve performance. I am a mother of two boys, I know the importance of good hygiene, washing and making sure the client's personal care is done everyday and also allow them to take the lead in doing so as to not to take their independence away. l also know the importance of healthy eating, I am able to plan a healthy eating plan and cooking home cooked meals is not a problem.. I like to take walks for improved mental state and exercise. l also like watching football and listening to music. What l like to do is have respect between the whole team that l will be working with including the client and maintain team confidentiality however, I know there may be times where confidentiality should be broken for example when l suspect someone is abused etc.
I love helping others. I am a quick learner. I used to work with end of life clients for 2 years and now nearly 2 years I'm looking after a spinal injury patient and seizure and stroke patients. I love my job and I always try my best. My thinking is we need to think of the clients as a human because no one want to be a disable or staying in pain. I always try my best to help other, and treat a clients as a family member. I am looking for extra hours to fit around my current client, I normally work 4/5 days per week and I know my shift pattern 1 month in advance so looking for 2/3 nights per week. I am happy to work with male and female clients.
I’m cheerful, caring and friendly, able to follow instructions and procedures. I have good verbal and written communication skills. I have been accountant for over 10 yrs back in my country and I have done voluntary services in caring for the young and old and it’s what I do for joy. You have to have passion to this job for you to embark on it. I have for my grandmother for years before she passed on and it’s something I did what joy and I made sure she enjoyed her end of life by be part of it. Being a carer there are highlights and lowlights but the highlights overshadowed the lowlights. I do personal care, grooming, cooking, medication and general duties pertaining to the job. Anywhere I work I have got the charisma with the job and these makes the client asking me if I could always come back to work more. I have been working as a carer in the UK 10 months now and my job speaks for me as I always put and respect my client’s decision as it is wanted by them. I don’t influence or persuade them and I go by their care plans.
