Hello! My name is Doris, I am 42, I have been caring since 2007. First I worked in a Dementia Care home, then I worked as a support worker for an agency from 2011-2015, when I became self-employed and I have been working as a private carer ever since. I have a very caring nature, being very empathic, patient, and respectful. I am passionate about my job and I find a lot of spiritual fulfilment in caring for elderly people. For me caring is more than just a job it is my passion and I truly love what I do. While working for an agency it was nice for this to be recognised and I was awarded the carer of the year award multiple years running. My clients request me by name and are always happy, safe and respected in my care.
After caring for my own parents for 4 years, I realised that this is what I wanted to do. For the past 16 years, I have worked as a live-in carer, so my clients can continue living independently in their own homes. I support and care for their needs, wants, and interests. My approach is person-centered, which means I provide care and support in a way that the client desires. I am caring, adaptable, reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking, and self-motivated, I also have a warm, kind, and friendly approach as a carer (not forgetting my funny side). I have worked with clients with dementia, mobility issues, and diabetes. I have experience with clients who require hoists, chairlifts, monitoring blood glucose levels, stoma, and catheters (male and female), I do not have certificates for these, but I am happy to have the district nurses sign off on my level of training, I am always willing to learn new skills to care for a client. Caring for a client at home has proven to be beneficial to their health and wellbeing. As part of my daily routine, I help my clients with activities of daily living, cook meals, and ensure that prescribed medications and exercises are followed. I am especially vigilant for signs that my client is feeling unwell, and I do not hesitate to schedule an appointment with the doctor. This is especially true for UTIs. Over the years, I have become adept at recognising the first signs of a UTI. Symptoms aren't always obvious, but they can be painful, and so early diagnosis and treatment are critical. Medication compliance is also important, so I ensure that prescriptions are filed quickly A balanced diet is important, and I enjoy cooking traditional homemade meals, such as roast dinners, casseroles, cottage/shepherd pies, macaroni and cheese, light meals, and salads. To ensure social engagement, I enjoy chatting with my clients and going on outings to garden centres, the National Trust, shopping, and church. I believe that the quality of care I provide, and warm, kind and friendly manner as a carer is why I have had several long-term clients (6½ years, 3¾ years, and 2 years). For new clients, I suggest a two-week settling-in period and then happy to extend to 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Public holidays are charged at double the daily rate. I own my own car, and I am fully covered for business car insurance, there is a charge of £0.45/mile when driving clients around. I am available to work anywhere in the UK. On my time off, I am looking for regular clients I can cover a few nights a week, ideally fitting into an existing Curam micro team.
I have more than 8 years experience as a caregiver in UK. I worked as live in carer with dementia, physical debilitated seniors and stroke. I did personal care, shopping, cooking, social care and much more. Before becoming a carer, I worked in hospital in North America in rehabilitation center and also in wound care clinic ( inpatient and outpatient) setup for over 10 years. I have physical therapy degree from Poland. I am experienced, professional and caring. I love history, geography, art , reading and sports. I cycle on my road and maintain bike and play tennis.
