My mother has dementia and requires 24 hours care to ensure her comfort and safety. Duties that were required included cooking, administering medicine, running the household, arranging and attending doctor’s appointments, ensuring my mother washed, dressed, ate and drank properly and went to bed at the appropriate time. Nicolette performed her duties without supervision and showed a good level of initiative solving problems as they arose in a calm manner. I love singing and am a member of a choir that sings every year in Bath Abbey. I also am passionate about animals and have a 10 year old terrier called Messi as named by my husband and sons’ who are Football and Rugby mad ! and who loves being taken on long walks. I work with many elderly people who have dementia or Alzheimer’s and a dear friend who is recovering from a stroke. Every client has different needs and my role changes with each of them. Sometimes preparing meals, cleaning, providing companionship or taking them out on adventures. I help with physiotherapy exercises, pet care, shopping, gardening and life admin. I take an active interest in the whole person and their specific needs and goals. I get to know each client, and their families, and take pride in being someone they can trust and rely on. I love music, art, nature, health and wellbeing, philosophy, psychology, humour and connection. I find the more you know about something, the more interesting it is so I’m always curious and open to learning.
