I am doing my NVQ Level 2 and have worked actively with individuals who have Alzheimer’s and dementia and I fully understand how challenging this can be. All of the training I have undertaken has equipped me with the skills to be able to handle these situations, being tactful and patient, offering reassurance and encouragement. I have also had to communicate with families when a person in my care has had deterioration in health or sadly passed away and therefore I have the experience and empathy to cope with distressing situations.
