I have worked in the care industry for 20+ years, in a range of care settings which include, both adults and children with learning difficulties, domicilliary and palliative care. I also have experience in stoma and catheter care. I have also worked with people with various physical and mental health problems. My love for care came from caring for my father who was left with physical disabilities after a work accident. It brings me joy to help those who need help in maintaining their independence in areas where they find difficult. Being that extra “pair of hands” to make life easier is such a rewarding feeling for me. I like to challenge myself to give the best care I can as every care is not the same and brings with it a new way of caring. I strive to work in a way best for an individual, that is, the way the individual wants their care to be provided not how I want to do things as I am there to help. In my years as a carer I have picked a a little Makaton, which I am looking at learning further with time.
