Every care I give must be recorded in the service user’s note. SKILLS/ABILITIES I have a good communication skill which has helped me relate with clients effectively and their family’s members and other agencies that relate to their care. as a carer your body language and eye contact are very important, and listening is another important factor in a care sector. I am willing to learn from others. I am willing to undergo any training in order to acquire more knowledge that will help me perform my duties according to my role and I am ready to undertake on job training and to participate in seminars. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING When discharging my duties, I must understand and work within the policies and procedures of the Trust relating to Health and Safety, food Hygiene, Data protection, Infection Control and Equal Opportunities and Complaints Procedure. I understand the knowledge and the need for Prevention of Cross Infection, it is very important as it is costing the NHS a lot of money to fight this. During my duties when I support patients with personal care, cooking, laundry and feeding. In supporting them with personal care, I make sure I use (PPE) Personal Protection equipment. E.g. aprons, gloves etc for infection control purposes. I make sure I use different aprons and gloves for another patient and dispose them appropriately after I wash my hand in each care before attending to the next patient. When giving care I respect their dignity and choice. Before giving personal care, I have to ask them what they want for example a shower or bed wash. I have to report any change immediately I see in their body during personal care , things like bruises etc. doors and curtains must be shut properly, I give them a choice of what to wear. For those that need to be hoisted, I must explain to them what we are doing and why we are doing it and the hoisted has to be done by 2 people. I make use of regular supervision to be put in place to reflect on my practice and identify areas of my weaknesses and strengths to enable me to improve my services and skills. i wish to train further to enable me to perform better.
