I always knew my career path would lie within healthcare as my passion is helping people and my skills involve communication and my ability to empathise and always put others at the heart of what I do. I started my career as a domiciliary home carer for older adults and those with dementia. I loved this role and did this full time for a year before continuing part time whilst I studied towards my BSc in Psychology which I achieved in July 2014. I then moved to working in a residential home supporting young adults with autism, epilepsy, mental health conditions and challenging behaviours. This role challenged me but I learnt so much and really enjoyed working with people with additional needs. This led me to the last six years which I have spent working within a community learning disability team in the NHS. This role gave me great experience in working with adults with a range of physical and mental illnesses, disabilities and conditions. I have a range of different experiences and qualifications including manual handing, first aid, basic life support, medication management and epilepsy. My hobbies and interests include music, running (I am not the fastest but like to do the distance!) walking my dog, and spending time with family and friends. I am very sociable and chatty and enjoy being around people. I also spent some time recently volunteering as a events first aider for St John Ambulance which involved providing basic life support and other first aid to the public at a range of events including the London marathon and bath rugby games. I believe that every person I work with deserves the best standard of care I can provide, every single day. If you have any questions for me please feel free to get in touch. I am working alongside another role but am happy to consider requests on an individual basis. I have experience with catheter and stoma care but may need a refresher. I am always willing to learn new skills.
