The family unit is the most important foundation of Greek society, providing emotional and economic support to the individual. Relationships in Greek families are extremely close. The social life of Greeks deeply involves our relatives and the extended family plays a strong role in our lives. The ‘yiayia’ (grandmother) and ‘pappoús’ (grandfather) play a particularly important role in child-raising, often looking after a child whenever parents are unavailable. As I was raised by 2 grandparents, I believe, this job makes me feel closer to my family and I am convinced I can give the best of myself to support and care for them respecting their dignity and individual needs. I am reliable, diligent, punctual, trustworthy, and conscientious. I am also very patient and dedicated and showing lots of empathy. I don't mind working with pet owners. I love pets and I am a father of a little beautiful Greek crazy and adorable female dog. I don't mind working with smokers whatsoever, as I am a smoker myself. In addition to my experience, I also have peg, catheter care and stoma care experience as I worked full-time with patients in a nursing home setting in the past. As a Learning disability HCA I can manage my clients’ needs over a longer time, often having to be creative to achieve results. I am very patient and have highly-developed, flexible communication skills. Since the job can be stressful and demanding my self-awareness helps. I sometimes need to be assertive to ensure people with a learning disability do not suffer discrimination. I am good at sensitive human interaction. I know I am responsible for people with a range of needs so being highly organized, flexible, and able to prioritise effectively is vital. I am highly observant, able to assess SUs, and take responsibility for determining the best course of action. On a daily basis, I need to use a broad range of skills, including: listening and communication, problem-solving, good judgement, offering advice. I am looking forward to speaking and meeting with you. Rest assured that your loved ones will be in good hands.
