In the first 4 years I visited my clients - mainly elderly people, some over 90, with Dementia or other serious illnesses, physical or mental disabilities - in their own homes every day, so I exactly knew their life, their daily activities, their special needs and requirements in clothing, feeding, moving, personal care, how to communicate face to face with them - and how to follow policies and procedures. Then I have worked as a Live-in Carer for 5 years - providing the same kind and level of care for a similar clientele as before, only dedicated to one particular person in their home. At present days I work a few hours a day to find a good balance between working with elderly people and spending my time with my family and my hobbies. This balance helps me to be that patient, kind and cheerful person who likes her caring work, her „clients”, and is glad of making their life easier and happier.
