I love my job and have been caring since 1990 in different sectors: drug rehabilitation, learning disabilities, vision loss after head injury, homeless hostels (solvent abuse, alcoholism, mental health, hepatitis, HIV), dementia, and the elderly. In the early days, care work was not my main job; hairdressing was. However, I always did a few hours a week when my children were younger. As I was only part-time, I never gained my NVQs in care work, but I accumulated 30 years of experience in various settings.
I am available to provide temporary live-in care cover for holidays and respite, accompanying clients on their holidays, whether in the UK or abroad. I prefer to work on a 2-week on, 2-week off basis, with a 2-hour break each day or a 4-hour break every other day.
I consider myself a great companion: caring, patient, supportive, thorough, loyal, honest, trustworthy, and hardworking, with a good sense of humour. I enjoy having meaningful conversations.
I hold a full UK driving licence and have never had any points or accidents. As I spend time at my caravan, I can cover a 100-mile radius from Bradford, West Yorkshire, or a 150-mile radius from Morecambe, Lancashire. For any distance beyond that, I would require travel payment for public transport, such as train or flight, but I am willing to travel if you need me.
While I am not experienced in PEG feeding, I am willing to undergo training if required. I have completed in-house training for moving and handling, hoisting, epilepsy, cross-contamination with body fluids, basic food and hygiene, advanced first aid, safeguarding, DOLS, health and safety, and fire safety.
When cooking, I love to prepare food using fresh ingredients, and I enjoy baking and providing healthy, fresh meals.
I am compliant with COVID testing regulations and have received all COVID vaccinations, including the booster. I have an enhanced DBS on the update service online, and I am fully insured. I work on a self-employed basis and have business insurance for my car. I charge extra on bank and public holidays.
