I believe to have good communication skills and I have a passion for caring for others. I am very much a self-motivated person with a dedication for providing personal and physical care on a one -to-one basis. I am able to support and care for people whilst respecting their dignity and empowering them. I am currently a carer who provided care in clients homes - In this role I have been able to support and help service users who live in their own home as a domiciliary carer. I have been able to support and care for clients whilst maximising their independence which is essential for their empowerment. I am responsible for providing a high standard of care provision during early mornings, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. This job revolves around helping clients with their immediate needs such as washing, dressing and maintaining their hygiene, as well as helping them with basic day-to-day tasks. Additionally my role also includes getting to know clients personally and providing them with emotional support and company, which contributes to their wellbeing. Before becoming a carer I was a full time mum and worked as a professional cleaner and nanny for 20 years. Although always having a caring nature - the reason in which I became interested more so in becoming a career was because I unfortunately lost my husband to Cancer is 2012 - I decided to look after at him at home until he passed away. This experience had a great impact on me and made me realise that I wanted to support and care for vulnerable people for as long as I could. I have enjoyed my role as a carer whilst working for Westminster Care but I have decided that I would like to be based in one/two locations as I believe I will be able to best support clients as I will have more time to provide them with. Working in the care sector has been an extremely rewarding field to work in. Unlike many jobs, it provides opportunities every day to help improve people’s standards of living. As a domiciliary worker on the frontline of care delivery I have been helping individuals to overcome the everyday difficulties they face. The clients I have supported have included the disabled, elderly, young, long-term ill and individuals with learning difficulties.
