I have worked in hospitals, nursing homes, day centres and in private homes as a live in carer. Having such diverse exposure, I am someone who is confident in what I do when it comes to caring for people with different ailments. I have had experience and training to work with vulnerable adults, those who suffer from Alzheimers, Dementia, Parkinson's, Diabetes, just to mention a few. I am comfortable with offering personal care and assisting. I enjoy cooking and am capable of making wholesome meals (British meals such as shepherd's pie, casseroles, fishcakes, toad in the hole, apple crumble, just a few to mention) and willing to learn. My experience in dealing with various multi-agencies in the healthcare sector has ensured that the people I look after are getting the adequate help available for example liaising with the Occupational Health Workers for equipment that makes life manageable and restoring needed independence. To enhance my skill as a Carer, I attained a qualification in National Vocational Qualification in Health and Social Care Level 3. I also have a full driving licence, and a car is needed, which helps to make travelling to appointments or days out much easier. I have a good interpersonal skills and communication skills, am proficient in English Language and willing to learn new words in order to enrich communication. I am a genuinely patient and caring person who is good at putting other people's needs first and concerned about other people's welfare. This allows me to be able to put the needs and preferences of the person I will be caring for first and ensuring that their voice is heard whichever way possible. I have a dry sense of humour sometimes but I have the ability to remain professional at the same time. I enjoy watching TV, going out for walks and visiting garden centres, going through photos and listening to stories of memories that means something to someone, cooking and gardening. Although I do not have much exposure to pets, my experience of working with one client who had a dog, a friendly Cocker Spaniel made me to be open minded to the possibility of having a pet around me. I enjoy going to church when time and opportunity allows. My Christian values helps me to be a grounded, honest and to be a flexible person who is also open minded to the view that not everyone has to share same values with me and ability to respect that. This flexibility extended to other spheres as well, when its required.
