My work as a mental health s...More As a support worker and researcher, patient confidentiality is a basic skill that cannot be over emphasized, I understand the GDPR guidelines of the UK and therefore understand how to process and protect patients’ data or discard it according to the data protection act. My work as a mental health support worker means I work with challenging behavior, this includes some autistic patients, I have positive behavioral support training as I also worked as a PBS support worker, therefore I have the skills and expertise to handle patients. I have worked as a therapy assistant in rural areas, which meant I had to demonstrate exercises for patients to be able to understand it, sometimes I even support patients with pictures on their mobile devices or printed out so they can successfully carry out the exercise. Personal qualities As a carer, I possess qualities like empathy, kindness, and honesty, which enables me to connect with patients and make them feel comfortable. I believe each patient is different, and therefore should be treated differently according to their needs. I have mastered the art of studying my patients to enable me to understand how to treat them. An example is if I need to prescribe a 30 minutes moderate-intensity anaerobic exercise for a patient who does not like running, I could replace that with swimming or dancing just to fit the patient’s passion or needs. I am willing to learn and develop new skills as frequently as possible to meet patients' needs.
