HP20 2LJ 19890 I am a dedicated carer and nurse with over 20 years of experience in hospital environments, specializing in infection control and person-centred care. Since relocating to the UK, I have been supporting people with complex needs in the community, drawing on my nursing background to provide compassionate and effective care. My passion for helping others is deeply rooted in both my personal and professional life. I have cared for my father-in-law after his stroke, supporting his recovery with physiotherapy and treatment plans. I also nurtured my son through his battle with keratitis, which required corneal transplants, further strengthening my ability to provide emotional and physical support. In addition to my nursing career in Africa, I have worked in various care settings, assisting vulnerable clients and patients. The COVID-19 pandemic reinforced my commitment to this work, highlighting the urgent need for skilled, caring individuals to support those receiving treatment and care. Beyond my professional life, I am a mother of three successful adult children and the eldest sister in my family. I have a strong sense of community, often supporting loved ones with conditions like diabetes by raising awareness and offering practical help. My excellent communication skills allow me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, understanding their needs and offering both companionship and care. I am actively involved in my parish, visiting the elderly, preparing food for the homeless before the pandemic, and participating in community activities. Gardening at the allotment and attending church are my hobbies, but my greatest joy comes from making someone smile and helping them feel better. Caring for others is not just a job for me — it’s part of who I am. My goal is always to support health and well-being, ensuring those in my care receive the best possible treatment and compassion.

MK8 0LX 216282 Hello My name is Shayla. Caring for the elderly is my choice. I started as a carer doing domiciliary care for over a year and this has allowed me to gain experience with a variety of individuals and conditions. I laid down a strong and broad foundation on my first year of being a carer. Despite having worked with patients with Stroke, Dementia, Parkinson's, Alzheimer, Cardiac Arrest, Spinal Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Anxiety, Visual and Hearing Impairment, PEG Feeding and Physical Disabilities, I have gained great experience with Spinal Injury, Dementia and Brain Injury patients. What makes me stand out as a carer is my ability to sympathise with my patients and to deliver a personalised service according to their circumstances and needs. For instance, Spinal Injury patients are complex cases and they ought to receive a service according to their unique need and this same principle applies to every single condition. Therefore, despite my experience on a certain condition, I always assume a learning posture when dealing with a new patient. I am patient, friendly, well organised and I keep everything tidy around me. Happy to provide personal care, companionship and assist with meals or medications. I can cook something light and healthy as well as baking bread, cakes or desserts. Obviously, I always discuss the menu with the person/family respecting their meal preferences. I am happy to accompany the patient to watch TV and also happy to play games, puzzles, listen to music or engage on intelectual and/or philosophical conversations. I have a full clean driving license and my clients enjoy being taken out for meals, walks and events. I am willing to learn new skills and I like to believe that I adapt well to new environments and different personalities. I am aware that any person holding a poor health condition ends up having their mental health also affected. My various trainings combined with my gentle and genuine personality allow me to keep my patients’ dignity and freedom of choice and expression. No one knows the patient better than their family so I am very keen on working side-by-side with my patient's family and I like to use the 'team work' approach. My goal is to bring quality of life into the lives of people who have been limited by physical or mental setbacks. It's not always possible but that is my personal aim. Please get in touch if you feel that I would be a good addition into your beloved's life. Please feel free to reach out.
