I have an NVQ Level 2 in Care qualification, a degree in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care. I am also a Qualified Social Worker with 1 years experience but no longer working in this field as I decided live in care was where my heart was, but I have worked in both adult and children services. I have worked in different care settings such as, live-in care, domiciliary setting, supported living, day centres, hospitals, residential and nursing homes and schools I have supported and cared for clients of all ages who suffered from different illnesses, such as Dementia, stoma care, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health illnesses, stroke, terminally ill, end of life and palliative care. I have also worked with people recovering from operations caused by falls, accidents and stroke, and I have assisted them with physiotherapy exercises put in place to help them recover or maintain their physical health. However, I have worked more in live-in care settings. I find working with the elderly as rewarding job for me. I always find pleasure in seeing them enjoying secure, independent and comfortable lives in their own homes. What I love most about being a carer is that my being there put a clients at ease and enable them not to worry much about things they can’t do anymore knowing, as I am there to to give them physical and mental support. I also love working with the elderly because they’re also very appreciative for things that a carer does, no matter how small. Conversely, I also learn a lot from clients that I work with as the elderly are good story tellers and are full of rich historical background and wisdom, and hence I leant about different things from just listening to them. Live-in care also allowed me to travel to different places of the country and enjoy the richness of culture and environment of every place I work. As a car driver I have also enjoyed driving clients to attend their appointments and social outings such as, places of worship, regular clubs, sight seeing and visiting families and friends. Taking them to places has allowed me to visit fascinating places and activities that I never thought I will ever get to see . I’m a good cook and I’m able to prepare nutritional meals as per client preferences and dietary needs and ensuring that a client is kept hydrated. My aim is to ensure that clients are cared and supported to live independently in their homes, participate fully in their communities, improve their quality of life, prolong life and to fulfil their full potential. I am hard working, empathetic and sympathetic, and work in a way that suits individual needs and preferences. I am willing and ready to continuously better myself and provide excellent services. I am happy to have animals in my clients homes, however I prefer to concentrate on the needs of my clients. My period of care depends on the clients condition I am flexible I can work anything for 2 to 6 weeks. When doing live in care I prefer to have my 2 hour break where possible but again this can be negotiable. My rates may increase depending on the level of care that is required, this will be evaluated during the first week of care.
