My name is Martin and yes - I am a carer ! .. and have been for more than 10 years+. I haven't always been a carer. I used to run a small but very busy commercial graphics design studio. Worked in IT sales, too. These were very busy and challenging times. One day I went visiting an innovatively thinking care company who were trying to make things better for handicapped kids. I liked it and decided to stay. First I became an assistant, then a care trainer. After about a year I knew it was my best job ever. It felt good. And it still does ! I clearly missed my calling. Caring for someone gives directly what's needed, makes other's lives that bit- or even a huge chunk easier. I remained a carer since. Some time ago I have also led a small team of carers within a re-ablement project in cooperation with the NHS. It involved day to day and overall management of a team of carers, liaising with clients, hospitals, social care teams, OTs and other bodies, as well as, and of course, the client's families. I am a country-walker and enjoy a good ramble, but not too a hasty one. I enjoy a good sit-down, too, looking at the beauty the world can be. I enjoy a merry company but it is nice to be on my own, too. There are some truly remarkable places. Exmoor comes to mind, South Downs, Lake District, IOW and of-course the Peak District and Yorkshire and Derbyshire. There are places, and stories written all around them. Stories about us people and places we live our lives. Some of my clients also found that their lives were far from over because of older age or a handicap ! Far from that. When safe to do so, a day-out trip somewhere nearby or further afield is sometimes all what it takes. Visiting a local garden center ? Why not ? Is there a match or a do nearby ? There are so many a places and venues that one could drop in and come home later. Even a small hop away, or a bit of shopping and a sandwich at a Cafe is nice, It does make a change. One definitely feels a bit happier, better. Back to care... I am comfortable in supporting my clients with various needs, ranging from Cerebral Palsy, MS, Spinal injuries, +++, to Palliative Care, and End of life Care, in all settings imaginable, mainly in my client's homes. Personal care. Medicine administration. I am comfortable in 1 to 1 support and also as a part of a team. I am experienced in cooperation with Occupational Therapists, Nurses, GPs, managing and going hospital appointments, all that usual and, unusual, too. I am reliable, organized, cleanly and, apparently not a bad problem-solver, when needed, can react on the spot. Please do get in touch should you wish, we can then talk your particular needs and wishes and, if I would be a good match. In any case, please have a really nice day. Martin
