Working with several clients with a range of disabilities or complex health needs, I have always believed there should be equal opportunities for everyone to have a good quality of life and that additional needs should not be a barrier to this. My tasks included supporting them with daily tasks such as personal care, taking medication and preparing/giving them meals. During this time, I successfully worked as a part of a team of carers and carried out tasks independently as well, using my professional judgement to make important decisions whenever required. Further to this, I encountered many people from different backgrounds and cultures, both those that I worked with and those I supported. This was an important experience for me and I enjoyed learning from different people and working effectively with them, consolidating my communication and teamwork skills.
