I have worked with people with dementia, have provided end of life care, provided care for stroke rehabilitation and have loads of experience with moving and handling people. I enjoy working closely with health care professionals. In the past 13 years I mainly worked as a living in carer, but also worked in care homes as well as a community care and social worker. I am well presented, a conscientious, honest and diligent self-starter, on whose work and support one can always rely. I am discrete and respectful. I am a mother of two boys, who are now grown man. I enjoy being with my family, though scattered around the world. But face time helps. I am fluent in German and English. My hobbies and interests are various, to name a few: I love dogs , board games, drawing and colouring, musicals and art galleries, world news and history, cooking, puzzles like word search, reading fiction and non fiction, swimming, TV documentaries and quiz game shows as entertainment shows. Originally I am German and born in Berlin. Before becoming a carer I worked and lived 20 years in South Africa/Durban area. I worked for the German School in Durban as school secretary and bursar and also taught German for Southafrican adults. I came mainly to the UK because one of my sons life in London. I decided to become a carer and continue what I am good at. I also want to add that I am happy to accept hourly visits as long as they are in my area - likewise am I willing to travel further should the role require a living in position. Karin provided exceptional live-in care for our elderly father for 3 wks.She displayed a keen sense of attentiveness & was respectful of his age and intellect. With her skills and experience, she quickly formed a warm professional rapport with Dad. We were particularly impressed with her daily updates & detailed notes.
