My role involves me spending time with the clients and interacting with them in a way they enjoy, documenting their day to day activities, moods and medication. I thoroughly enjoy looking after people and being able to understand them without being judgmental about one’s condition. I am aware that some disabilities may not be as visible as others and everyone should be treated with the same respect and dignity. My communication skills has greatly improved through my experiences as a support worker, I think this is a very important skill to have when working with vulnerable individuals as each persons way of communicating will be different I must ensure I can adapt to one’s communication preference.
