I have a wide range of experience of working in different social care settings, Children and families - Adoption and fostering; older people; mental health services, learning disabilities and residential homes. Working in the different settings and gaining formal qualifications have provided me with knowledge, skills and understanding for this post. I have worked within a learning disability team managing a caseload of assessments of services users needs in their own homes and in independent living schemes. My tasks also included managing care packages that were being managed by external agencies, and in-house organisations, to support services users with their individual needs. My role also included supporting carers and offering them support from their caring roles. My role as a duty social worker also provided me with skills to work under pressure and in emergencies with different individuals and offering guidance and support when needed. It also gave me a chance to evaluate the services in place through supervision with my manager.
