Hello, my name is Hope. well most people always say l'm a rare of sunshine due to the pleasant self. you need to meet me in person so you understand what l 'm talking about.. l am confident that l could provide holistic care to any particular individual accordingly. l have worked within most of the care setting of Edinburgh council and many more care settings including new challenging service user from Royal Edinburgh Hospital. l am aware and have good understanding of the working regulations, policy’s and procedure around the Council and SSSC.
l have worked voluntarily and payed jobs as a support worker in peoples own houses, care homes of elderly, Aids orphans, clinics, hospital, respite units, independent living, Hostels of homeless, woman’s refuges and day centre's. This has developed my working skills and the ability to work co-operatively with a wide range of multi-disciplinary professional teams. In having that privilege to work alongside with these professionals such as Doctors, therapists, nurses, dentists, dietitians, pharmacists, psychologists and social workers. This has given me an opportunity to have an insight in how the healthcare field works under strict ethical codes of practice and high professional standards, which I feel and think helps to promote person centred caring.
All this intertwines with my current employment where the people I support are a priority and the main goal is to improve their lives and daily living in every way possible. Through these work placements, I have developed the knowledge, skills, experience and competences essential for working in the care and domiciliary settings. I have gained the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. I am able to provide a calm and consistent approach whilst being sensitive to the individual service needs of each service user I encounter.
l work well as part of a team but can also work individually unsupervised using my own initiative and under pressure whilst at the same time being aware of the support available to me should the need arrive. within the team I pay attention to everyone, take constructive criticism and reflect to my practise. i value others opinion.
I have worked with service users with physical, victims of abuse, down syndrome, learning disabilities and mental health problems. This has enhanced my patience and confidence, as a result l am able to socialise with people of all various age, race religion and gender. Some of the qualities l possess include being trustworthy, patient, confident, honest, reliable, smart, punctual, determine, non-judgement , and always have time to spare.l am willing to take any tasks that are presented to me and ensure that they are carried out to the best of my ability. I also poses a leadership skill from an early age of being a class monitor, a prefect in primary, in high school l was a class captain, at college l was a class rep, in my spare time at present lm a the chairperson of board of trustees in a recognised charity in Glasgow and in my present post lm the key worker of my service user.
