I have over 9 years experience supporting vulnerable adults and young people with Dementia, learning difficulties and significant physical disabilities, including vascular dementia, autism, mental health, challenged behaviour, stroke, muscular dystrophy etc. These experiences have made reflect on the different interpersonal skills and attitudes required to adapt to the situation and the client to maximise participation, but also to build a good rapport where trust is important.
I have been able to make a positive difference in individual’s life by follow standards and helping them to live independent, secure, and safe from harm. I keep myself motivate and always have a good attitude.
I did additional studies in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People’s Service which brought me more experience in the sector. I also promoted numerous changes and improvements to my client’s life, by introducing menu plans, food intake, health charts, observation charts, repositioning charts etc.
I had the ability to think on my feet to be able to prioritise tasks, but also ensure others tasks are covered. I have always shown great flexibility to meet the needs of the client, sometimes at short notice which shows the unpredictability of managing vulnerable clients. I have a good understanding regarding the management of vulnerable adults, safeguarding policy, but also issues surrounding mental capacity.
I understand the importance of working alongside their families who also requires to be well supported as much as the customers involved in the care.
Equally, I have developed acute sensitivity towards subtle changes in a person’s behaviour or presentation that may indicate all is not well. I feel confident that I understand policies and procedures to address concerns and I am very proud that at times – however difficult, I put the needs of my customers first. I am able to clearly and confidently lease with other members of the multidisciplinary team involved in customer’s support plan as this encourages good communication and facilitates continuity of care.
I have done several trainings in complex care. I also understand the need for hydration, good nutrition, skin care/pressure care, medication as part of the client’s holistic management. Those trainings helped me to understanding these vulnerable people conditions have multifactorial elements of care and I feel confident in being able to give the right support, but also communicate with those specialist services responsible to the specific care.

Karina provided live-in care for our 87 yr old mum after a hip replacement. She was exceptional and I mean that in its fullest sense. Karina was efficient, capable, confident, a great communicator, extremely kind and went above and beyond. Mum loved her and she made a huge difference to Mum's recovery. We were so grateful for her care and would recommend her without any hesitation. An absolute star!

Excellent
Karina was friendly and cheerful, quickly put me at ease when she arrived and did a good and efficient job of helping with my washing and cleaning the bathroom and carpets.
She was very conscientious and was able to see what needed to be done instead of always having to rely on my direction.
I have no hesitation in recommending her as a carer.
