Experience in working with older and elderly adults who are deemed vulnerable, with a diagnosis of MS, Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease and End of Life patients. I have also provided companionship to the elderly. I am applying for the post because I am confident that the knowledge I have gained and valuable experience I acquired in the last 25 years of my career working within the Care industry would make me an asset to the organisation. I worked as a live-in carer for 20 years with Able Care and recently started working with a new agency in the last 3 years. My role as a live-in carer was to support people to stay in their homes whilst receiving care. This role mainly involved housekeeping (e.g. cooking, shopping, washing, ironing, light cleaning, providing personal care, companionship etc.). My role has also involved been able to look after the client’s physical, social and mental health care needs and supporting them to receive care from health professionals e.g. their GP or while they recuperate following hospital admissions. I firmly believe each person is an individual, with varied needs, be it cultural, social, emotional or spiritual. I am deeply committed to working in such a way which values people’s rights, guiding them to make informed choices. And ensuring I work in a person-centred way. In view of my experiences within the different settings I have worked in and the experience I have acquired, I feel ready and competent to carry out the expectations and demands of the post. I know I can make a difference to the people I will work with. Key Skills: Good communication skills, Consistent, clear, inclusive and fact-based communication style, influences. Companionship, Caring, flexible, maintaining routine for my clients, adaptive skills if there are changes in needs, Report writing, record keeping and application of care plans, risk assessments, policies and guidelines in line with agency I’m working for.
