I use effective communication oral and written, monitoring, and administering medication, understanding clients, and devising care plans to meet their needs. If there is a care plan in place, I follow the individual care plan, if not then I have to sit with the family the client and make a care plan that suits the client depending on their needs. I also reflect on my day today's work to improve work practices, liaising with family, nurses and doctors to fulfill the clients’ needs. I report to the family and other people involved all changes and wellbeing of the clients. Also, work as a team with other professionals who come in to support the clients in a centered way and ensure all personal hygiene aspects of the clients are met. This may include hoisted if needed, washing, cooking, and feeding, changing pads depending on each individual needs. I also have a duty of empowering service users and treating each person as an Individual. Having worked in health and social care for more than a decade, I have been pursuing not only to be a caregiver but to assess and provide a client centered assessment and intervention strategies and deliver unique support options for them and be able to determine the needs and goals of the clients. I am applying for the above post as a Live in Carer because I have worked as a Live in Carer for quite a while and I have acquired substantial experience in working with people with learning difficulties and mental health needs and other illnesses such as cancer, strokes, etc. Also, I can do hoisting but I prefer doing it when we’re 2 people doing it. However, this experience has made me develop an interest which forms the basis of my career ambitions in social care, confirming my commitment and desire to improve people’s lives. Encouraging service users to take an active role in all aspects of daily living and helping them to access the local and wider community as often as possible. Working directly with service users and to encourage their psychological, social, physical, intellectual, cultural and emotional development. Being fully involved in the key worker system and the development and maintenance/update of service user plans, I feel I can make a positive contribution to the service user with the skills I have acquired from my previous jobs. My role and responsibilities involved the following: Providing opportunities for individuals to develop skills in a way that respects the person involved. Promoting choice and independence to allow individuals concerned to realize their own potential. NB: I do not drive at the moment, but I don’t mind travelling far away from my place. I can go up to 160 miles away from home. I am flexible as I can work up to six weeks where applicable.
