I am a mother of 6 children, 3 of which are now adults and have a BSc Hons degree in Psychology. I have a genuine interest in people and their lives. I am quite a sociable, personable and friendly person and although my life appears to be busy I manage my time well and I am very organised. My hobbies are travelling and experiencing new cultures and cuisine as well as spending time with my children and creating wonderful memories for them. I have a large amount of experience in both mental health & general nursing settings. I have a lot of experience in dementia care firstly through caring for my father who had advanced Alzheimer’s and was cared for at home, due to this I chose to work in dementia care for 10 years caring for people with all stages of dementia. I am confident in caring for patients who are palliative also and hold a level 3 certificate in palliative care. I have worked in A&E for several years and am trained in venepuncture & Cannulation, wound management amongst other skills. I work in general hospitals and can give personal care, catheter care, take and understand observations and various other skills. I also have experience working in mental health settings, my service users are both adults and children, mostly of teenage age. I have firsthand experience with autism with my children who are on the spectrum and I often support young adults who are also on the spectrum and have experience working in Cahms. I have supported people in the community, and their own homes also. All of my training is currently up to date, such as safeguarding adults and children, Level 3 and manual handling, PMVA, administering medication, basic life support, dementia care and various others. I am always happy to learn new skills and take further training and courses if it helps my service user and my work. I have alot of transferable skills, and due to my vast experience I'm able to work well in a team or take the lead, I work well under pressure. I prefer to work nights or twilight shifts starting late and have been doing so for around 16 years.

Amanda cared for my mum for a short time after returning from abroad but her level of care and commitment was excellent. She made such an effort to make sure my mum felt at home and cared for her with such respect. Her experience and professionalism really shows. My mum has complicated physical and some mental health needs and Amanda did a great job in supporting her within a short space of time. The care sector needs more people like Amanda.

Amanda is a very experienced, caring and reliable carer. She is very friendly and easy to get on with and takes a genuine interest in getting to know those she works with. I feel confident leaving my husband in her care, knowing that he will be well looked after and in safe hands.
