With 19 years of experience across a wide range of health and social care settings, I am a highly experienced and compassionate care professional committed to delivering safe, person-centred, and high-quality support. For the past 18 years, I have specialised in night support work, providing consistent, reassuring, and clinically informed care for individuals requiring overnight assistance and monitoring.
My professional background includes extensive experience within dementia care, A&E departments, general hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, CAMHS, forensic psychiatric hospitals, palliative care, and community-based support services. I have worked with individuals presenting with highly complex physical, cognitive, behavioural, and mental health needs, always promoting dignity, independence, safety, and emotional wellbeing.
I hold:
• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
• Care Certificate
• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
• Level 3 Understanding Autism qualification
• Currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Sciences
I also regularly update all mandatory training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure my practice remains current, evidence-based, and compliant with best practice standards.
Areas of expertise include:
• Dementia and Alzheimer’s care
• Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD)
• Autism support
• Mental health and psychiatric care
• Palliative and end-of-life care
• Emergency and acute care support
• Night care and overnight monitoring
• Medication administration and health observations
• Risk assessment and safeguarding
• Emotional and psychological support
• Complex community care
• Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults & Children
I have extensive experience managing challenging and high-risk situations independently during night shifts, including supporting individuals with advanced dementia, exit-seeking behaviours, emotional distress, confusion, and complex mental health presentations. Working autonomously within community settings, I have successfully maintained safety, reduced escalation risks, and provided calm, therapeutic support without immediate onsite backup.
In addition, I have acted as a key liaison point with Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), communicating urgent risk concerns, contributing to dynamic care planning, and supporting continuity of care between families, healthcare professionals, and statutory services.
My psychology and mental health background allows me to bring a deeper understanding of human behaviour, emotional needs, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic communication into my practice. I am passionate about building trusting relationships and creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for every individual I work with.
Caring is more than a profession to me — it is a responsibility I take great pride in. I remain committed to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and supporting them with compassion, professionalism, and dignity at every stage of care.
