With this growing desire, I started to work as a Support Worker/Health Care Assistant in the domiciliary, Care Home and Hospitals settings to build background knowledge and understanding of the Health Profession, which has made me more interested in the profession. My Roles include: Monitoring and recording the Service User/Resident/Patient's observations such as temperature, Pulse, Respiratory rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen saturation rate and calling in the designated person (notifying the nurse) if I notice a change in the observation, Personal Care of the Patient assigned to me, e.g., washing, showering, toileting needs, pad change if dependent while making sure I respect and maintain their privacy, catether care. Assisting in feeding/Encouraging the Patient to eat, Recording Patients' behavioural acts in the Behavioural booklet, Making the Patients comfortable as much as possible, Attending to the Patient's needs at any given time. With these roles: I have been able to develop the following skills, which are essential to the betterment of myself and professsion: Caring Skills - One of the most important skills I have learnt and imbibed is displaying a certain level of care to the patients. Letting the Patients/Service Users know and see that you care for them helps in motivating and promoting their wellbeing, Effective Listening and Communication Skills- A Health Carer must listen to the Patients' needs. In my experiences, I could use person-centred care to practise these skills in my daily meetings with each Patient (not forcing my own opinion on the patients but listening to them and assisting in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to manage and make informed decisions about their care effectively.) A team Player- I have also improved on being a team player in any Organization I find myself in because it helps the organization grow and improves effective communication amongst staff. Record-Keeping and confidentiality one of the Skills of a Health Care Worker is to accurately record the Patient's activities, timely (to avoid forgetting the necessary points) and neatly, which I have learned and improved on overtime. Organizational Skills This experience has enabled me to understand the fundamental and practical aspects of the challenges of the role played by health careers and the sense of human satisfaction found by taking care of such patients and helping them lead a more normal life, strike a balance in their daily lives and preserve their dignity. My hobbies include reading, *gisting*, cooking most times, travelling
