I believe caring for someone is about facilitating and empowering an individual to live the quality of life that allows them to thrive. I believe in doing things with people, not for people. I am trustworthy and dependable, respect people's personal spaces. I treat my clients with dignity and respect as respect cannot be demanded it must be earned. I can read your care plan but I much prefer to discuss directly with the client or their loved one about their preference and needs and everyone is an individual and should be treated as such.

SP11 6YU 199542 Caring is a profession that has engulfed my family. My mum, aunt, and elder sister are nurses/carer. Therefore, it would not be surprising that I have chosen to continue in this field. Also, my desire for embracing being a Health care Support worker is for the satisfaction derived from affecting people's life. The passion and emotional support for caring for patients is something I grew up with as a child shadowing my mum, aunt and elder sister. It's evident that I have something to give out; thus, I fancy this role as a HSW in this industry. I have built that strong relationship with patients and nurses from my years of working in hospitals, nursing homes etc as a healthcare assistant. It's my goal to put patients first in everything I do, giving them a sense of belonging. I value patients, their families, and staff. Respecting their aspirations and commitments in life is paramount. It's vital that I understand the patient's priorities, limits and abilities; with this, I care for them adequately. I don't compromise the quality of care; this has earned me respect from patients and their families. I compassionately care for patients; I feel their pains, and I don't fail to reassure them consistently. I treat all patients the same without discrimination. Living with my grandmother has also fortified my choice in healthcare. I have been working in hospitals and care homes for years and equipped myself with the necessary required skills to care for adult and young people. I have built my confidence in working under a tight schedule and under pressure. I know healthcare support worker is a stressful job where traumatic situations are frequent, but I have determined to put my dream in front of me. I am obliged to always deliver person-centred care to the patients. Patience is one of the key traits that I hold on to each day. I learnt to communicate clearly and concisely working with adult and young people. Timekeeping is another skill that I learnt working in healthcare. I have learnt to apportion tasks in smaller units and set realistic targets. My communication, timekeeping and organisational skills have also helped me function in a team productively. My tolerance and knowledge derived working in some of the most challenging wards like acute medical units, accident & emergency units and critical care units, put together with all the other skills learnt, make me a stronger support worker. It's beautiful when looking into a patient's eyes and sees the gateway to their soul when only a caring touch or word can make a connection. I like being blessed, and I count my blessings daily for all the patients I have helped gain better health or independence in life. High standard and quality care is what I'm about at all times.
