Understanding dementia with alzheimer's society

EX14 1XG 15907 I have been a caregiver for a total eight years, six and half years working in community care helping people with early and intermediate stage dementia, 2 years in a residential care home which has given me experience in more advanced dementia. I work only with the elderly and love giving them companionship, taking them out and making their lonely days more enjoyable. I help with all the basic light household duties and personal care where necessary, I have a carer certificate and L2 & L3 equivalent to NVQ’s in Dementia care. Dementia is a devastating diagnosis for any family to receive and I specialise in this area. I am happy to do respite for a few hours in a day if family carer needs a respite so they can have that much needed break to relax or go shopping. I am happy to work with pets in the household and travel within a radius of about 10 miles. I am also fully computer literate if needed. Non smoker to work in smoke free homes only and no evenings or nights. I concentrate on the areas of Sidmouth, Honiton and awliscome to Plymtree post codes.

DT73TS 65544 Its now Jan 2025 and I am taking time off from work to volunteer at a Buddhist retreat centre until end of September 2025. I anticipate I will be back and available for work in Autumn of 2025. Here is general info re my skill base and style of working... Please take the time to read my references. Thank you. I work on a relief basis so do please message me to enquire? My rates for Bank Holidays are time and half. Other days usual rate. I may also have capacity for work over Xmas and Nee Year. . Please do look at my client references for validation of my work ethic. OFFERING RESPITE WORK rather than long term placement for foreseeable. I have 35 yrs plus experience in caring for people with different needs, in a variety of settings. I am looking for respite care opportunities covering carers breaks or extra care support needed as a transition from hospital back home. I also enjoy supporting people who need some support to live an independent, full and rich life. Also available for palliative care support. I have had previous experience in this area and appreciate the need for patience, calmness, kindness and flexibility. My primary aim has been to support people to remain living as comfortably and independently as possible at home, to enjoy life despite of challenges and ensuring the family members are also listened to and feel equally supported in collaboratively caring for their loved ones. I worked for a company that works with service users with Parkinson's for 5 yrs and I trained carers in understanding the particular needs of those living with this condition . I have supported people with dementia, anxiety and mental health issues, strokes, learning and physical disabilities, end of life and much more. For the past 7yrs I have been a self-employed carer working in the community. All my work has arrived through personal recommendations. Recently a client said of me " you are irreplaceable, there is only one Helen!" My care is of the highest standard and tailored to your needs. I am happy to arrange a meeting with you to discuss this in person before agreeing any shifts should that be of help? Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Any questions you have please feel free to contact me and we can explore options together.

DT6 5JE 2183 I enjoy taking care of people/homes/pets and plants and find it very rewarding. I am very calming and friendly and a holistic therapist part time. My experience started out as a live-in carer for a spinal injury care company. I also worked for a care agency, where I cared for a girl with disabilities, there was always 2 carers in this role and we took her to school, administered medication and checked blood and ketone levels. Within this agency, I covered many different care homes and agencies across Bristol. I also supported 2 ladies privately, both had a spinal injury, where I supported with personal care, using a catheter, cooking and a lot of driving. I like driving and I am a very careful driver, I can drive an automatic and a manual car. My preference is home care as I love seeing people so relaxed in their own home. I am also a complementary therapist, so naturally, I am a gentle caring person. I love working with all ages, but particularly fond of the elderly. I used to go into a few care homes in Bristol and offer mini treatments, this is at a dementia home and one of my friends who is like a grandma had dementia. I am a fantastic listener too! I am now back living in Dorset and looking forward to caring for people that need support in this area. I would prefer a minimum of 2 hours + per visit.
