We launched Curam in the Spring of 2018. All three founders have first-hand experience of the health and care sector in the UK. Choosing a carer can be both an emotive and difficult decision – and paying for it can be expensive.
We know how important it is that the person you choose is the right carer for you and/or your loved one. We also know the key to recruiting good care workers is to ensure that they earn a decent income.
Unfortunately, most care workers in the UK receive little more than the minimum wage. We aim to change this.
Here at Curam, we think the best person to choose your carer is you. Our fees are the lowest in the sector at 12.5%, compared to the 50% charged by agencies or most other service providers.
By charging less your carer is paid more, and you get a higher quality of carer. You control all decision-making and your carer takes responsibility for the care delivered.
Also, our low fees allow us to support both private clients and those on Local Authority funded personal budgets.
We take your safety very seriously, and we interview all the carers on our site. They have to provide two checkable references, are DBS/PVG checked, and need to provide proof that they are self-employed tax compliant and allowed to work in the UK.
For further carer oversight, we employ a team of highly experienced Curam Nurses. They are on hand to provide your care worker with advice and support.
We encourage client feedback on Curam so that each carer or personal assistant can be recognised for their good work; the higher the rating, the more motivated the carer.
Our GPS enabled Carer App also notifies you in real time when your carer checks in and out, giving you real peace of mind. All our Curam carers are fully insured by Curam.
We have created a carer backup system which we call the buddy system. Your carer is part of a team who can step in for each other, should they be ill, or on holiday and unable to meet their commitments. When you choose your carer, you can see who is on their buddy team.
Alternatively, you can choose someone else from the site. Either way, you always choose your carer.
