Since childhood, my passion has been to care for and help people in need, which is why I trained as an Enrolled Nurse in Zambia from 1983 to 1985 and practised as a general nurse. Since then, I have gained considerable experience and skills both here and back in my home country. I was recruited here as a senior carer in 2002. I have chosen to work as a carer to provide my services, as I truly enjoy working in this field. Having gained experience, I believe I excel in my role, always demonstrating commitment and valuing everything I do. Additionally, I know this is a great opportunity for me to broaden my practice, learn more about people from various backgrounds, improve my skills, be more productive, and contribute to the betterment of my clients. I am focused, qualified, loyal, unassuming, respectful of others’ needs, flexible, honest, caring, and trustworthy. I have worked with different individuals in hospitals, hospices, care homes, residential and nursing homes, in the community, and in supported living environments, caring for people with learning difficulties. I started working as a live-in carer in 2014 and have 10 years of experience in this role. I have cared for wonderful ladies with various ailments, including COPD, stroke, heart disease, and early stages of dementia. I am passionate about what I do and always strive to ensure that care is delivered to clients, regardless of age or identity, with utmost respect and dignity. My vast experience as a nurse and carer over 39 years has made me proficient in my job and has given me a deeper understanding of how important and valued person-centred care is. Providing compassionate and informed care ultimately enhances quality of life. Previous placements and clients always request my return wherever I have worked. I am available and happy to work at any time. I would like to work within a 75-mile radius of HD1 but am flexible to work elsewhere as long as travel expenses are covered. I am currently learning how to drive but am happy to accompany clients to any appointments, day care centres, shopping, banks, or visiting relatives and friends. I am a Christian and would be happy to accompany clients to church or another place of worship, regardless of their faith, should they wish to practice it. In my free time, I enjoy watching TV, going for walks, exercising, reading, listening to music, swimming, and spending time with my family, friends, and church members in the community. My skills include excellent verbal communication, empathy, patience, thorough attention to detail, good customer service, the ability to work well under pressure, collaboration, a desire to help others, and sensitivity and understanding.

Excellent

Joyce cared for my father while his usual carer was on a break. She was diligent and respectful and looked after my father with kindness and patience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.
