I worked for one family for over 6 years, during which I was responsible for a large household and managed other staff. I was in charge of the care of the owner’s father, who suffered from Alzheimer's but remained in the family home until the end of his life. I cared for him by managing his medication, dressing him, and accompanying him on outings and to hospital appointments. I stayed overnight in the house while the owners were working abroad.
More recently, I have been caring for a 100-year-old through a private contact, also staying overnight in her home. This role started as a weekly companionship service and gradually evolved into a job share with the client’s daughter, working one week on and one week off, during which I sleep in the house and prepare a hot evening meal. This arrangement has enabled the client to remain independent in her own home. She has now moved to live with her family.
I completed a week-long training course with Nurse+ and subsequently worked in my local community as a carer before my private employment. Recently, I have cared for a lady with Parkinson's disease and dementia. I have also completed my Health Education England, Skills for Care, and Skills for Health certificates.
I am a multilingual individual and have a passion for foreign languages. I previously worked for a diplomatic overseas service and speak fluent Spanish, French, and Finnish. I have gained a diploma in French language and, in my spare time, I attend French-speaking gatherings in my local community. I regularly visit the local sports centre to work out, and I enjoy swimming as well.
My strength lies in my vast experience in the care sector. I am patient, cheerful, and calm under pressure. I enjoy working with the elderly, and my interest in current affairs, as well as my knowledge of different countries and cultures, has facilitated conversations with the adults I have cared for. I am physically able and in excellent health, which is beneficial when caring for vulnerable individuals.
