I worked with learning disability and mental health in a home, where I used to look after elderly people assisting them with bathing, using the toilet. dressing and undressing feeding assisting with mobility and assisting to communicate and encouraging their physical development and independence. Being a carer, I care very much about people, I had worked with people assisting them and I am still working with people, all my life has always been working with people. As a live in carer, I really love caring, assisting those who are unable to live independently because they are unable to perform basic day-to-day activities and run their household adequately. Basic day-to-day activities that are important for living independently like: getting in and out of bed, getting dressed and undressed, moving around, walking, eating and drinking, assisting with medication, using the toilet, bathing etc. Also, encouraging their independence and promoting their interest. Having been working with elderly people for a long time has also taught me how to respect people’s choices and treat each person as an individual without being judgemental. I see my clients as people and not just because it is a job. My duties also include maintaining all day to day report in line with the client’s care plan in the care report book. Maintaining regular communication with the branch manager and care leaders. Attending team meetings and undergoing trainings. Managing workload by working under instructions and own initiative and encouraging client’s independence. I am patience, kinds, positive, and tolerant. It also takes compassion, empathy, dedication and a non-judgemental attitude. I have also found, with many clients, that it helps to be a good home cook! These are the most important attributes of caring. I can take things one at a time and can work towards goals no matter how long it takes I will still be patient and appreciative. I am a very understanding person having brought up my two boys single handedly, I understand children’s feeling and their behaviour, I am also very empathetic I can put people in my shoes. I do not give up easily, I am perseverance I can hang in there no matter how tough it takes to achieve something. I know that it may take long to get something done, but one will get there in the end. I am flexible and adaptable, I can learn new things, experience new situations and I am prepared to have days that don’t always turn out has planned I love reading, cooking, music and meeting people. I hold a current DBS. I am willing to travel to any part of the country as a live carer. I could also work locally, if I was offered long shift of 10 - 12 hours per shift. Unfortunately due to allergy, I am unable to look after pets. I have a driving licence.
