I have a passion for working with people within communities, and I find being empathetic comes naturally to me and find I’m most happy engaging with others whether it be a casual conversation or a person who entrusts me to be their voice. Being creative, useful practical and an advocate for others ...More I have a passion for working with people within communities, and I find being empathetic comes naturally to me and find I’m most happy engaging with others whether it be a casual conversation or a person who entrusts me to be their voice. Being creative, useful practical and an advocate for others drives me and keeps me grounded and also positive. Caring for and assisting people in such recent challenging times such as lockdown has highlighted to me that perhaps for some individuals they need extra support because situations out of their control has taken a toll on their mental and physical well-being. Along side being a support worker,I’ve been a wedding hair and makeup stylist for 26 years so If you’re a lady that likes beauty then it’s one of my skills that comes along with me! I’m very interested in and keen to promote emotional wellbeing involving cosmetic therapy and therapeutic massage- both of which i’m qualified in doing so. I’m also up for encouraging individuals to exercise depending on their capabilities- but there is always something that can be achieved, for example a simple stretch of a persons arms whilst in a wheelchair etc. I’m enthusiastic by nature and think laterally. I’m a strong believer in incorporating natural , holistic approaches to home and work life wherever possible. I have for the last two years been very keen on promoting immunity building food and incorporating this in all my cooking I have documented everything I have cooked for the individuals I support and would willingly discuss developing a food plan if required. I cook all types of cuisine from scratch including Chinese, Indian, Italian and many more . My favourite at the moment is doing homemade nan bread and flatbread with different flavours. I’m immensely passionate about the right tasty foods that give your immune system a boost and help promote healthy bowel management. HOW I WORK PLEASE NOTE I HAVE A MINIMUM BOOKING REQUIREMENT STARTING AT TEN HOURS PER DAY On a ad hoc basis, so as and when! My minimum booking is for a whole day starting at a 10 hour day up to a 14 hour day , for example a 12 hour day would be … 08:00-20:00 or 09:00-21:00, etc. Im happy to support individuals for a period of 24 hours so this would resemble the shift patterns above plus a sleep in obviously specific times of the support would be discussed and worked out. I can work weekends ( 48 hours) or any amount of days thereafter up until 7 days ( one week) This means i can cover for a regular live in carer you may already employ whilst they have a holiday etc. For a weeks support ( 7 days) or will consider travel to anywhere in the UK , travel expenses may apply. I’m registered with Social Care Wales -this is because i still work in the sector on a relief basis alongside my self employed support work. What is registration? The main purpose of registration is to protect the public as it ensures only those who are competent and qualified can deliver care and support in roles where registration is required. Being registered with us means you are part of a professional workforce and can show that you have skills and knowledge which are vital to providing good care and support to the people of Wales.
