Greetings.
I have been practicing as a voluntary carer for over 20 years, and 7 years as a duly trained practitioner and paid worker. I have experience in standard care and specialist or complex care, including autism, spinal injury, Peristeen procedure and bowel management, brain tumour, dementia, dyslexia, osteoporosis, blindness and deafness.
Also, being a 'responsible driver', I have driven non-emergency vehicles and public accessible minibuses in London and counties. That allows me to offer transport service to clients when needed.
I am a very patient person and respectful of human dignity. Very clean and tidy.
My life can be summarised in two words: “promoting others”. That include: seeking the other person's happiness and fulfilment, offering personal care as I will do to myself, finding ways to make the client really satisfied and dignified, endeavouring to comply with policies and procedures, empowering the client in accordance with the principles of Safeguarding Adults (Care Act 2014), supporting people and encouraging them to make their own decisions and informed consent. I find my fulfilment in putting a smile on somebody’s face.
In terms of education and training, I constantly update my knowledge in health and social care. Presently, I completed my training in Leadership and management in social care, Level 5, as a personal development plan (CPD).
Four values are vital for this role. I can confirm that I am accountable, commercial, caring and energising (motivational). Having occupied different roles in my professional life, I have acquired a greater sense of responsibility and accountability: before the organisation's management team, before the public and clients. Accountability implies good stewardship: avoiding wasteful behaviour and recycling what can be re-used or transformed, Switching off lights after leaving a room, turning off the tap correctly, etc.
Finally, in all situations, I try to find out the positive side of people and situations and capitalise on them, given that no one is perfect. People do not need to be reminded of their infirmities, shortcomings or limits, but rather be spurred (promoted, supported) to achieve something plausible, no matter how little it may be.
Yours Sincerely,
Lema
