Before becoming a carer, I worked in teaching and training, and I have a degree in Psychology. I’ve always been fascinated by people and have a particular interest in mental health, wellbeing and what helps us maintain a good quality of life. I have experience supporting people with a wide range of needs, from companionship and everyday support to personal care, mobility needs and more complex health conditions. I’m calm when things don’t go quite to plan, practical and resourceful when problems arise, and I try to adapt my approach to the individual rather than expecting the individual to adapt to me. Outside of work, I’m curious about almost everything. I love art, technology, psychology, reading, swimming and travel, and I’m always interested in learning something new. I enjoy people with a sense of humour and a story to tell, and I think good care should still leave plenty of room for laughter, interesting conversations and simply enjoying everyday life.
