Working across different age groups has given me a broad understanding of how learning disabilities affect individuals at various stages of life, and how support needs evolve over time. In my work with children, I have focused on creating safe, engaging, and supportive environments that encourage development, communication, and independence. I have supported children with a range of needs, including communication difficulties and behavioural challenges, using patience and tailored approaches to help them express themselves and build confidence. I understand the importance of consistency, structure, and positive reinforcement in supporting young people to reach their potential. Alongside this, my experience working with elderly  people has strengthened my awareness of the additional challenges that come with ageing, such as declining health, reduced mobility, and increased vulnerability. I have provided personal care, emotional support, and assistance with daily living while maintaining dignity and respect at all times. I take pride in building trusting relationships, ensuring individuals feel safe, valued, and understood. Throughout my career, I have developed strong communication skills, particularly when working with individuals who may have limited verbal abilities. I use a range of techniques, including non-verbal communication and active listening, to understand and respond effectively to their needs. I have also worked closely with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and high-quality support. I am experienced in safeguarding, medication support, and promoting independence, always prioritising the wellbeing and rights of the individuals I support. I believe strongly in empowering people to make choices about their own lives, no matter their age or ability, and I strive to create opportunities for them to participate in meaningful activities. My experience has shaped me into a compassionate, reliable, and patient professional who is dedicated to making a positive difference. I am committed to continuing my work in this field, using my skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care and support to both children and elderly people with learning disabilities.
