My career in health and social care spans over nine years in management, alongside twenty years of hands-on care experience. My approach is grounded in a strong commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and well-being for all clients. I possess well-developed skills in personal care, assistance with mobility, managing household tasks and adapting effectively to changing client needs. I have an NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and I have held the role of a Registered Manager. This background has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the practical and emotional needs of service users, strengthened my knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care and effective communication, all of which I consistently apply in practice. I work well both on my own and as part of a team. Early Career and Foundational Experience I began my career as a Home Care Assistant, where I developed strong foundational skills in delivering person-centred care. My responsibilities included supporting elderly individuals and those with disabilities with daily living tasks such as personal care, catheter and incontinence care, meal preparation, medication assistance, companionship, shopping, and general household duties. I always ensured that clients felt respected, safe, and valued, carefully monitoring any changes in their conditions and reporting concerns appropriately. These experiences helped me to strengthen my empathy, patience, and ability to build trusting relationships with both service users and their families. Specialist Experience and Competencies Throughout my career, I have gained experience in supporting individuals with a variety of healthcare needs, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, palliative and end-of-life care, reablement following accidents or surgery, and learning disabilities. I am also competent in using moving and handling equipment such as hoists, slings, slide sheets, Zimmer frames, wheelchairs, rota stands, and hospital beds. Leadership and Management Progressing into a leadership role, I successfully managed a domiciliary care agency from start-up through to growth and eventual sale. As a Registered Manager, I was responsible for assessing service users’ needs, developing care plans, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring high standards of care delivery. While this role enhanced my leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills, it also deepened my understanding of what excellent frontline care looks like. I worked closely with care staff, often mentoring and supporting them, which kept me connected to the core values of hands-on care. I am now seeking to return to a Care Assistant role, where I can focus directly on supporting individuals and making a positive difference in their daily lives. I bring strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for caring for others. I am committed to delivering high-quality care, promoting independence, and ensuring that every individual I support is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
