My journey began at home, looking after my late dad when he became unwell. Supporting him through his final months changed me in a way I will never forget. It taught me patience, strength, and the importance of showing kindness even in the hardest moments. Being there for him made me realise that caring isn’t just something I can do, it’s something I am meant to do. After he passed, I knew I wanted to take that experience and turn it into something positive. I started working as a Care Assistant, and from the very beginning I put my heart into every shift. I treated every person I supported the way I wished someone had my dad with dignity, respect, and genuine compassion. Over time, my dedication and willingness to learn helped me progress into the role of Field Supervisor/Senior Carer, where I now support both residents and colleagues with confidence and empathy. I’ve continued to build my skills through extensive training, including: Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care NAPPI PEG feeding Infection control Safe handling of medication in health and social care Positive Behaviour Support and Breakaway Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Bladder management and catheter care Gastrostomy care and management Stoma care Palliative and end‑of‑life care These qualifications have strengthened my ability to support individuals with a wide range of needs, but it’s my personal experience that has shaped the way I care. I understand how vulnerable people can feel when they rely on others, and I never take that trust for granted. My hands-on experience includes personal care, PEG feeding, moving and handling, and supporting individuals with complex health needs. But beyond the clinical skills, I pride myself on being someone who listens, who notices the small things, and who brings comfort and reassurance to those who need it. What drives me every day is knowing that I can make a difference, sometimes in big ways, sometimes in small ones. Whether it is helping someone feel safe, encouraging independence, or simply being a friendly face, I approach every moment with empathy and respect. I look forward to continue growing in the care sector, bringing my passion, my lived experience, and my commitment to high‑quality care into a role where I can keep making a positive impact on people’s lives. I am currently looking for an additional 20 hours per week, this can either be hourly visits close to my area or 2 x10 hour shifts for night time work. In my current job role I have existing clients in the whole area of Northumberland, so I can co ordinated in this area.
