Prior to that I was a Health Care Assistant for 17 years and completed a BSc Degree in Health and Social Care and a master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing. My journey in care started when I was looking after my grandmother who had dementia. I realised that I was making a real difference in her day-to-day quality of life, and when my caring role ended I decided that this was my real passion and that I would become a professional carer so that I could help make a difference in other people’s lives. Over the years I have supported older people, people with mental health conditions like dementia, bipolar, schizophrenia, personality disorders, etc. I have also worked with people with physical disabilities and long-term conditions, learning disabilities and autism. I am passionate about supporting people in the way they want to be supported and promoting independence, and I value building meaningful relationships with the people I support and their families.
