I see being a carer as an extension of your family: someone you can trust, rely on, and feel comfortable with every day. As self-employed carer, my goal is to offer individual or families peace of mind, knowing you or your loved ones is cared with patience and genuine kindness.
I began my career in food industry, developing strong skills in quality management and regulatory compliance. Although successful, I felt a growing desire to do work with deeper meaning, so in 2021 I realigned my career with my values and completed a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management. But I believe a Diploma in Health and Social Care does not enough. Therefore, I worked as Community Teaching Assistant for young adults with special needs where I developed a deep interest in supporting individuals with Autism. In this role, I learnt to recognise their unique strengths, skills and gifts helping them navigate daily life that makes sense to them. Then, I had the opportunity to work as a Service Manager in Support Living for adults with special needs. However, I realised that working for an organisation did not always allow me to put people at the heart of the work. I love to provide truly person-centred care that honour dignity, growth and empowerment, trust and communication, safety and quality.
Therefore, with my professional background and my strong commitment to delivering exceptional care. I decided to become a self-employed carer where I am flourishing as I am finally in line with my values, my wisdom and compassion.
My experience as self employed carer has been reinforced after caring for one of my dear clients who was living with dementia and recently passed way. It was an honour to be part of his journey, providing comfort, compassion and support for both him as carer and his wife as companionship.
Whether you are seeking care for your child with special needs or assistance for an adult who requires help with daily living tasks and want someone who offers genuine warmth, trust, and a family-like presence, I would be honoured to support you.
Warm regards,
Shamis
