I have worked with young people, adults, elderly and families. I have supported the elderly with personal care, and preparation of meals, shopping, providing emotional and social care, moving and handling, using hoists, ensuring the health safety of the individual by checking that the equipment is safe to use and ensuring that I am knowledgeable in using them safely. I have supported people who use walking aids like zimmer frames. I have administered medication and have been involved in ordering medication and ensuring there is no shortage of stock. I have supported people with dementia, physical disabilties and brain damage,. I have always used person centred care approach to ensure that the individual gets quality care and have the best support which enables them to live a good life. I am aware of safegurding polices and whistleblowing polices. I endeavour to keep up to date with polices and procedures and ensure I attend training where possible. I have worked as a cordinatior and supported new staff members in their role. I have trained other staff members in using all systems and creating support plans. I am also aware of equality and diversity policies and I do my best to ensure that I have a non-judgmental attitude, I exercise empathy with all clients and respect their choices as long as they are safe. I am caring person who is aware of professional boundaries and ensure that I promote independence in individuals so that they live fulfilled. I have also supported young people with different circumstances, some with mental health, who have experienced traumatic experiences in their life . I have also supported unaccompanied asylum seekers who have no family ties. I have supported young people through pyschosocial intervention to help them with their support plans and created support plans, outcome stars and reviewed them. I have attended multi agency meetings in representation of young people. In my role as a support worker for young people I have supported them with life skills like cooking, baking, budgeting, applications to get into education and apprenticeships. I have supported homeless families with life skills refering them to external agencies like drug and alcohol service, domestic abuse service, money advice and many other relveant agencies suited to their needs. I have led tenants meetings , chairing them and taking notes. My role involved applying for housing benefits, universal credit and house applications to move on to indepent living. It has been rewarding to work in different organisations. Working with people from all walks of life has enhanced my communication and proffessional skills and has taught me to set goals for the clients i support. I work well as team and as individual with the ability to prioritise my work load. I pay attention to detail by ensuring my work is of excellent standard. I am a quick leaner and can adjust easily to new environment. I am a champion for the computer systems in my role. I am always seeking opportunities to learn more and develop myself. I believe I am good carer who is passionate about their work and take in the achievements I have made in supporting young people and families to move on to independent living successful.
