I understand that caring is not simply about completing tasks — it is about caring for the whole person, listening to their needs, respecting their choices and building a relationship based on trust. I have experience supporting people in later life and understand the additional challenges that can come with Parkinson’s, dementia, reduced mobility, loneliness and loss of confidence or independence. I am patient and understanding and recognise that every person is different. I take the time to learn what makes someone feel safe, comfortable and valued. I believe strongly in protecting a person’s privacy, dignity and self-esteem. I encourage independence rather than taking over, supporting people to do the things they are still able to do while providing help when they need it. Even small choices — what to eat, what to wear, how they spend their day or simply having someone listen — can make a big difference. I can provide practical and emotional support with everyday routines, personal care, meals, companionship, appointments, shopping, household tasks and maintaining a familiar routine. I also understand how important it is to provide reassurance and companionship to someone who may feel lonely, confused or anxious. For families, I understand that welcoming a carer into a loved one’s life requires a huge amount of trust. I aim to give families peace of mind by being dependable, respectful, honest and communicative. I treat every person I care for as an individual and with the same kindness, patience and respect that I would want for my own loved one. What families can expect from me * Compassionate, person-centred care * Patience, kindness and understanding * Respect for privacy, dignity and personal choices * Encouragement of independence and self-esteem * Reliable companionship and emotional support * Understanding of dementia and Parkinson’s-related needs * Support with daily routines and practical tasks * A calm and reassuring approach * Good communication with families * Respect for confidentiality * Building genuine relationships based on trust * Taking the time to listen and understand * Treating every person as an individual, never just a task My aim is simple: to help your loved one feel safe, respected, listened to, valued and cared for, while giving their family reassurance that they are in kind and trustworthy hands.
